The allure of a Sephora VIP sale can be truly tempting. Yes, that special time that starts on October 27th to benefit an extra 10% – 20% off, gives us the chance to snag our favorite beauty products at a discounted price in which it is a makeup enthusiast’s dream come true. However, over the past year, I’ve decided to take a slightly different approach. Though I enjoy purchasing new products, I still value panning my current collection and making sustainable beauty choices. I’ve carefully considered my purchases, and there are five beloved beauty products I’ve panned but won’t be repurchasing during the Sephora VIP sale. While it’s easy to get swept away by the excitement of restocking our beauty collection during sales, my journey into makeup panning has opened my eyes to the importance of mindful consumption. Through this blog, I’ll delve into the specifics of these five products that once held a prime spot on my vanity but won’t be making a return appearance in my makeup bag or at least not in the near future. Join me as we explore the reasons behind these choices, discuss sustainability concerns, and consider alternative options that align with both our beauty desires and our commitment to the planet. So, let’s dive into the top five beloved beauty products I won’t be picking up during this year’s Sephora VIP sale.
- Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Sun-Kissed Glow Cream Bronzer
My adoration for the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Sunkissed Glow Cream Bronzer runs deep. The love for this bronzer lies in the versatile shade range, its creamy consistency, and the sheer ease of application. I jumped on board when it was first released. While I haven’t entirely depleted it, there’s a substantial pan showing. I’m eager to explore other bronzers and I also have the powdered version of Charlotte Tilbury’s bronzer. With such alternatives at hand, I’m not in a rush to replenish my bronzer collection, but I might revisit this beauty in the future, just not during the sale.
2. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
This foundation is no stranger to my makeup collection. Over the past decade, I’ve turned to the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation time and again. It’s been a trusted companion, especially in warmer climates for us oily-skinned folks. While I’ve had a lasting love affair with this foundation, I won’t be repurchasing it anytime soon. Currently, I live in a cooler climate along with having other foundations that are similar to the Double Wear, I do not reach for it as much. As I’ve aged, my skin’s oiliness has mellowed, making it a summer-only choice. Estée Lauder’s formula tweaks have made shade matching a tad challenging. While I can’t predict the future, for now, I won’t be restocking my supply, especially not during the VIP sale.
3. Dior Lip Glow Oil
I absolutely adore the Dior Lip Glow oil. It had been on my wishlist for the longest time, but its $39 price tag made me hesitate. Yet, I succumbed to the hype during a previous sale, and it was worth every penny! I calculated the cost per wear, and it’s been a daily go-to, especially during virtual work calls for that “minimalist look”. This lip oil is a moisturizing marvel with a hint of color. It’s a well-loved staple, but I won’t repurchase it during the VIP sale. My collection is brimming with lip products and oils I intend to use, and buying it again would mean my continuing to overlook the other lip oils and similar product that are already in my possession.
4. Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer
Several moons ago, I took a leap of faith and purchased a particular primer I was initially skeptical about. To my delight, it proved me wrong, and I developed a genuine fondness for it. Nevertheless, my relationship with this primer has evolved. While I hold it in high regard, I’ve encountered limitations when using it in conjunction with specific foundations and other products. The burning question remains: would I repurchase it? The answer is a resounding “maybe.” This primer has a special place in my beauty heart. However, my decision is to postpone repurchasing it in the foreseeable future. I already have several exceptional primers, which I’ve been trying to pan diligently. I find myself reaching for this beloved primer less frequently than before, confident that I have ample reserves for those moments when its allure beckons me once more. In the end, this primer holds a cherished spot in my beauty history, but it’s a chapter I’ll revisit perhaps sometime in the future.
5. Valentino Born In Rome Eau De Parfum
This fragrance was on my wishlist for some time prior to purchasing it during a previous VIP sale after purchasing a travel size. I really love the notes as well as the bottle itself in caused for me reach for it pretty often and therefore finished it rather quickly. However, I am not repurchase this fragrance during the sale as I have been rediscovering fragrances I already own and how this choice aligns with my commitment to sustainability and responsible consumerism.
As the curtain falls on our exploration of the top five beauty products I’ve panned but won’t be repurchasing during this year’s Sephora VIP sale, it becomes clear that the world of beauty is evolving in ways that encourage us to be more considerate consumers. While the thrill of a sale can be hard to resist, it’s essential to balance our desires with the principles we hold dear. These products that I have discussed above have all played significant roles in my beauty journey. They’ve brought joy, confidence, and style to my daily routine. However, as we’ve explored, there are reasons to part ways with them, from concerns about their environmental impact to discovering alternatives that align better with my current values. But this isn’t the end; it’s the beginning of a more mindful approach to beauty. It’s a commitment to sustainable choices, responsible consumption, and a desire to support brands that share these ideals. Sephora VIP sales will come and go, but our evolving relationship with beauty and the world around us is here to stay. In making these conscious choices, I hope to inspire others to examine their beauty routines, assess the impact of their favorite products, and seek alternatives that are in harmony with both their desires and the environment. The Sephora VIP sale may still hold its appeal, but it’s up to us to redefine what truly excites us in the world of beauty. Our products should also not only bring us joy but also reflect the current season that we are in our lives. Thank you for joining me on this journey of reflection and choice.
Glow on!
