1. Organize Your Makeup: The first step in maximizing your makeup collection is to organize it efficiently. Consider sorting your makeup by product type – foundations with foundations, lipsticks with lipsticks, and so on. This not only makes it easier to find what you need but also helps you identify any gaps in your collection.
2. Declutter: Over time, makeup can expire, lose its quality, or simply go unused. It’s essential to regularly declutter your collection by getting rid of products that have gone bad. You can also donate to local organizations that will accept your new and/or gently loved makeup or sell it to such places as Glambot that you no longer need or use. This step not only keeps your collection fresh but also benefits others.
3. Think Twice Before You Buy: Before adding new items to your collection, think about the shelf life of the product. Cream products, for example, tend to have a shorter shelf life than powders. Avoid buying products hastily, especially if you have similar items in your collection. By being mindful of your purchases, you can prevent wastage and save money.
4. Refrain from Duplicate Purchases: We often find ourselves attracted to certain shades and end up buying duplicates. For me, I have a natural obsession for bronzed and brown eyeshadow shades in which resulted in me having three of the same shade. To make the most of your collection, refrain from purchasing duplicates. Instead, explore the shades and products you already have and find creative ways to use them.
5. Identify the Purpose: Each makeup product serves a specific purpose. Take the time to identify when and how and/or when you plan to the products in your collection. There may be that eyeshadow palette in your collection that screams summertime in which you may enjoy to include in your warm weather beauty wardrobe. Or, there is a gorgeous eyeshadow that would even better on you as a fall blush. Also, there may be a concealer that you may not use often but may be something you may keep available near you for a very quick touch up to jump on that last minute virtual call. There are so many ways to reintroduce products from your collection. This way, you can create a makeup routine tailored to your needs, ensuring that every item serves a purpose in your daily life.
6. Know Thyself: Lastly, be honest with yourself about your makeup habits and lifestyle. For instance, if you’re someone who needs to apply makeup quickly in the morning, investing in an eyeshadow palette might be more practical than collecting single eyeshadows. Understanding your preferences and routines will help you curate a collection that truly suits you.
By implementing these six strategies, you can ensure that your makeup collection remains organized, efficient, and personalized to your needs. This not only saves you time and money but also enhances your daily makeup routine. Maximize the potential of your makeup collection and put your beauty products to good use.
