Hello, beautiful! If you’re anything like me, you probably have an extensive collection of foundations. Some of these might end up being a tad too light for your skin during the summer months. But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! In a previous blog, we discussed how to maximize bronzers that are too light for you. Today, we’re diving into foundations that might not match your summer glow perfectly but can still be your best friend with a few tweaks. Let’s explore how to make those beloved too-light foundations work for you during the summer, so you can save money and feel fabulous about your makeup collection!
Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Oil-Free Foundation (Shade 440 Amber) – This foundation is a staple in my collection and holds up incredibly well in humid weather. I love its staying power and the natural finish it gives.
**Maximizing Tip:** Instead of buying a darker shade, I pair it with a slightly too-light bronzer. This combination gives my skin a beautiful finish that looks natural and radiant. The light bronzer adds just enough warmth to balance the foundation without making it look too heavy. Plus, it enhances the longevity of the foundation, keeping me looking fresh all day.
Make Up For Ever HD Skin Undetectable Stay True Foundation (Shade Y60) – Although this foundation is a bit light for my liking during the summer, it oxidizes slightly, making it more wearable.
**Maximizing Tip:** Pair it with a bronzer that has a lighter coverage. This ensures the foundation looks seamless and blends beautifully with my skin. This combination is perfect for photos, giving my skin a flawless, airbrushed appearance that I adore.
Marc Jacobs Café Extra Shot Caffeine Concealer and Foundation (Shade 330) – I managed to grab a couple of these before they were discontinued. Initially bought as a concealer, it works wonderfully as a foundation.
**Maximizing Tip:** Use this as a targeted concealer during the summer. It provides excellent coverage where needed and blends effortlessly with my skin. Even in the summer sun, this foundation-concealer hybrid holds up well on my oily, over-40 skin.
Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Foundation (Shade 9.5 Warm Almond) – Snagged during a Sephora sale before being discontinued, this foundation is perfect for fall through late spring.
**Maximizing Tip:** During summer, it’s a bit light for my liking, so I pair it with my Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream in 395 Soleil Tan Deep Bronze. The bronzing cream, slightly light for me, adds the perfect touch of warmth. Paired with a light bronzing powder and an all-over setting powder like my Gucci one, the result is a flawless, summer-ready look.
Bobbi Brown Foundations (Shade 6.5 Warm Almond) – Both the Skin Foundation and the Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation give my skin a bright, radiant look.
**Maximizing Tip:** Pair these with a very light coverage bronzer that’s a bit too light for summer. This combination allows the foundation to oxidize beautifully on my skin, enhancing the overall look. The light bronzer complements the foundation, giving my complexion a natural, sun-kissed glow.
